Paver Color Option

The packet sent out for voting on the paver color appeared to be a little "fuzzy".

We've added these pictures here on the site so you can see the paver a little more clrearly.

The top image is "Vanilla Charcoal" while the bottom image is "Vanilla Pecan"

Hope this helps !

Permeable vs Non Permeable

As we prepare to vote on the new Boardwalk (Paver) option, it's important to understand the difference between "Permeable" vs "Non Permeable" pavers.

The Permeable pavers will have uniform spacing between the pavers.  (See Second Image)
This will allow for the water to permeate and drain properly through the boardwalk.

The "Non Permeable" option would not have any spacing between the bricks and would be more prone to puddling. (See First Image)

Voting Begins Monday !

The ability to vote on 4 major items will begin on Monday July 24th.

There will be multiple ways to vote. (Mail, Phone, Email, Online)

We will be voting on the following:

1. Residents expressed a desire to have one color of floating dock.
We will be voting on either black or tan colored floating docks with aluminum always being an option.

2. Moving forward with redoing the boardwalk with pavers.
Since this is a material change and not just a  repair or replace with like,  a vote is required.  The option to repair or replace with like are simply too expensive.
The pavers option is much more cost effective than replacing with composite lumber.  The life expectancy of the boardwalk with pavers would be much higher and any future maintenance/repairs would be significantly less expensive.

3. We will be selecting the paver/color in this vote.

4. Moving forward with replacing the utility posts along the boardwalk.

Boardwalk

Floating Dock

A survey has been distributed with regards to the color of the floating docks.

Results of the Survey will be published shortly

Our County hearing date is set for August 24th
Upon approval, the county will then have 30 days to issue their resolution.  Upon receipt of the resolution, we will submit the resolution to our selected contractor who will then submit the resolution along with their building permit.
We estimate to have all the approvals in hand by the end of September.

Pool Resurfacing

Pool maintenance is managed by both Sunrise Cay I  & Sunrise Cay II.

The  pool was built in 96-97.  The life expectancy  of a pool surface in this environment is 15-20 years.  We have well exceeded  this time frame  and the pool surface is now deteriorating.  Resurfacing is required in order to avoid much more costly repairs.  The cracks and leaky lights are obvious; however, the rust now leaching through the surface from the rebar is indication that action is required.

Both boards have agreed that immediate action is required.

This will be discussed and details will be provided at the next general meeting.

Replacement Utility Poles (Boardwalk)

Above is a picture  of the replacement utility posts being proposed.  These would be replaced at the same time the boardwalk would be done.

Below are images of the old utility posts.  These posts cannot be painted or repaired more cost effectively than replacing.

Power Washing

Great News !

Power washing of the pool area, driveways, and sea wall are underway.
They will start on the roofs and building later in July

Sprinker / Landscaping

We are working with Big Cypress to resolve both a volume and source of water issue.

The lack of sufficient quality water is the root cause of our landscaping, plants, and flower issues.

The first step to address the issue is the installation of lower GPM sprinkler heads so that the sprinklers will 'reach' the intended areas to be watered.  As the volume and quality of water issues are corrected, further adjustments will be made.

Forming a landscaping committee made up of interested residents has been suggested in order to develop a landscape/plant/flower proposal.
Getting this committee started is important so that we can execute on the proposal as soon as the irrigation issues are resolved.
